Police officers who had surrounded the room heard a single shot. "We are confident the shot we heard was Fuller taking his own life," said Lt. Chip Stokes of the Conway police department.

"When the child was killed, we aren't certain. That will be for the medical examiner to establish."

Kacie was kidnapped on Tuesday, after a correspondence with Fuller, going by the name 'David Fagan,' had begun a month earlier. She was the daughter of a police officer living in Holland, a community of 600 residents north of Conway. Police said Fuller had lived in the San Diego, California, area before traveling to Arkansas about a month ago.

We are very concerned that there may be other parties involved, perhaps other victims," said Detective Jack Pike of the Faulkner County, Arkansas, sheriff's department.
