At only 28, Australian born Heath Ledger had become well known over past decade, starring in teen roles, and gradually moving well beyond the stereotype. His latest film, "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" is still filming, with no word on what will happen to the role played by Heath Ledger.
According to the New York Times, Ledger was found naked and unconscious with pills strewn all around him in an apartment owned by actress Mary-Kate Olsen.
He was discovered by the housekeeper, wanting to let him know of the arrival of his masseuse, but after no response from him, she called for help.
Heath Ledger recently split from his fiancee, Michelle Williams, and leaves behind a daughter.
