Calgary, Alberta, Canada - On Tuesday, several students at the H. J. Cody School in Sylvan Lake reportedly got sick from a drink, which was supposedly intended to poison a fellow classmate...
Two girls in the west-central Alberta vacation community of Sylvan Lake were arrested and a warrant was issued for another accused of the poisoning, which apparently targeted one student but sickened seven, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said.
The seven girls, between 14 and 15 years old, were taken to the hospital after drinking the 'ice slush' drink from a convenient store. Investigators discovered copper sulfate in the drink, and learned that the drink was targeted to one girl.
A police spokesman declined to give any details about a possible motive. All those involved are said to know each other.
The copper sulfate, which can cause nausea, headaches and rashes, was taken from the school after a science experiment on April 10, police said.
The three accused girls face charges of attempted murder and administering a noxious substance. Their first court appearance is set for May 1 in Red Deer, Alberta.
