News: New York's Anti-Smoking Policy Leaves One Dead
Posted by: MCW Team on Monday, April 14, 2003 - 12:29 AM PST
US News New York, NY - A bouncer was stabbed in a night club after attempting to enforce New York's recently adopted ban on smoking...

The smoking ban, which took effect late last month, targets bars and restaurants and is similar to the California law which has been in effect for years.

Dana Blake, 32, was stabbed approximately 2:30am on Sunday when he attempted to request that two patrons, Johnathan Chan and his brother Ching Chan, not smoke. Mr. Blake passed away 11 hours later from his injury.

Police spokesman Michael O'Looney said that it was unclear whether one or both brothers were smoking. He stated that it is still unknown by whom he was stabbed by, and with what.
